The second edition of Dubai Mallathon has finally begun. Yes, this was announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and the Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. He announced the launch of the second edition of the citywide sports fitness event, and here’s all about it.
Dubai Mallathon Is Happening Until September 15th
Dubai Mallathon is a citywide fitness initiative that has returned for its second edition. It’s taking place at some of the most popular malls across Dubai until September 15th. Six Malls in Dubai will open daily for walking or running for a range of sports activities. The initiative transforms some of the largest shopping malls in Dubai into indoor walking and running tracks.
The initiative is open to all, and it aims to encourage a healthier lifestyle. Promoting a more active lifestyle, the aim is to make fitness accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Taking to X, he announced the launch of the second edition, remarking how this is the first-of-its-kind initiative globally.
The First Edition Secured A Guinness World Record
He also invited residents and visitors alike to join the Dubai Mallathon. Not to mention, people are invited to partake in the diverse programmes and activities. The second edition is being held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council. The first edition, to jog your memory, ended up securing the Guinness World Record for the largest running race of its kind, which was held inside a shopping mall. More than 1,300 participants had taken part in a single race at the Dubai Hills Mall.

What About Registeration?
So, now comes the part where you are probably intrigued enough to partake in this initiative. Well, the good thing is that you don’t need to register. All you need to do is show up at any of the daily runs. However, if you happen to be someone who wishes to compete in a pro race, you will need to register. You can do so online on the official website of the initiative. This happens every Saturday. The six participating malls are Dubai Mall, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Dubai Festival City, Dubai Hills Mall, and Mall of Emirates.
