Whenever we talk about road development in the emirate of Dubai, RTA comes to our mind. After all, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority is constantly trying to make commuting a smooth affair for residents and tourists alike. And recently, keeping up with this momentum, they opened a new four-lane bridge at the Al Qudra Road intersection with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street.
Dubai RTA Inaugurates New Bridge Along Al Qudra Road
#RTA has opened a new 700-metre, four-lane bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, with a capacity of 6,000 vehicles per hour.

Dubai RTA recently inaugurated a 700 m bridge. This bridge was inaugurated along the famous Al Qudra Road, where commuters can now expect a significantly shorter journey time. This new bridge can accommodate up to 6,000 vehicles per hour. It has been designed in such a way that it would improve flow towards Al Qudra City. Not to mention, this bridge is a part of the wider project that aims to cut the journey time along the upgraded Al Qudra corridor. This would be cut by about 70% from the existing 9.4 minutes to just 2.8 minutes.
Intersection To Also Be Upgraded
It should be noted that the intersection will also be upgraded. Once done, it will increase the overall capacity from 7,800 to 19,400 vehicles per hour. As a result, this has slashed the waiting time by a whopping 85%. The opening would complete the main traffic configuration at the intersection after the opening of the opposite bridge in February. This would serve traffic travelling from Al Qudra City towards Umm Suqeim.

More Works On The Project Pending
Not only this, but the RTA also plans to open additional ramp bridges at the intersection. This would open in the fourth quarter of 2026. Once done, it would allow traffic to move freely in all directions without disrupting the main carriageway. The ramp would include a 500 m bridge that would carry traffic from Al Qudra Road towards Jebel Ali. This would be via the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. The 900 m bridge would serve traffic heading towards Downtown Dubai and Dubai International Airport.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that this project also includes 3 km of service roads. These service roads would be on both sides of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street. With the project expected to upgrade several intersections, a combined length of 400,000 m for bridges will be constructed.
