If you are a resident of Dubai, you already know that the Hessa Street Development Project is a massive project that is going to make travelling for the residents a lot more seamless. And the second phase of the development project has now been awarded by the Dubai RTA. A 3 km long corridor between Al Khail Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, here’s all you need to know about this development related to the street.
Hessa Street Development Project Phase II Contract Awarded
As a part of the Hessa Street Development Project, the contract for the second phase has been awarded by the Dubai RTA. The scope of work includes the upgradation of three major intersections. This would be done by constructing bridges which extend 8,835 m. Moreover, there will also be a 480 m tunnel. As mentioned in a report of the Dubai Media Office, improvements to entry and exit points along several connecting roads have also been planned.
It Will Boost The Capacity Of Hessa Street
But what do the residents get once this project is complete? Well, on completion, it’s going to boost the capacity of Hessa Street by 100 per cent. From 4,000 vehicles per hour, this will rise to 8,000 vehicles! Moreover, once complete, it will cater to 10 residential and development areas. So, 6,50,000 residents will benefit from this. As it happens, it will also reduce the journey time from the existing 24 minutes to just five minutes.

It Will Increase The Number Of Lanes
As revealed by the Dubai RTA, work is currently underway for phase 1 of Hessa Street Development. This involves building businesses and dedicated cycling tracks, along with the upgradation of several intersections. Phase 2 involves the upgradation of the Al Khail Road – Hessa Street interchange. This will be done through the expansion of Hessa Street from the existing two-lane to four lanes in each direction.
So, once this project is complete, it is going to make movement on the road a lot easier for the people.
