If you’ve been keeping an eye on the calendar and wondering when Ramadan will be announced, here’s the good news! The countdown has officially been predicted by UAE astronomers for Ramadan and the Eid holiday.
Ramadan 2026: All We Know About The Dates, Holidays & Moon-Sighting
Astronomers have confirmed that we’re just three lunar months away from Ramadan. Ibrahim Al Jarwan, the Chairman of the Emirates Astronomical Society, shared the latest update. As reported by Gulf News, the crescent of Jumada Al Akhirah will form on November 20, 2025, at 10:47 a.m. UAE time.
But the crescent won’t be visible that evening because it sets before sunset. So the new month won’t start right away. Instead, Jumada Al Akhirah begins on Saturday, November 22, after Jumada Al Ula completes its full 30 days. And with that, the three-month countdown to the holy month officially begins.
What This Means For Ramadan 2026
Now for the dates. Astronomical projections show that the crescent signalling the start of Ramadan 1447 AH will form on February 17, 2026. But the weather that night might make moon sighting a little tricky.
Based on the current data, Ramadan is predicted to start on Thursday, February 19. Forecasts also point toward a complete 30-day month this time.
A Long Weekend Is on the Horizon
Now for the interesting part. If Ramadan lasts the full 30 days, Day 30 automatically joins the Eid Al Fitr holiday. That means residents across the UAE are likely to enjoy a solid four-day weekend from Thursday, March 19 to Sunday, March 22. This gives us enough idea to plan things for Ramadan and Eid..
Marking Eid Al Fitr 2026
Al Jarwan expects Eid Al Fitr to fall on Friday, March 20, marking the end of Ramadan and ushering in one of the biggest celebrations of the year. The day begins with the dawn prayer, followed by gatherings, gift-giving, and community festivities nationwide.
