The UAE’s health ministry has stepped in to calm public concern after reports about a traveller who later tested positive for Ebola after leaving the country surfaced. Officials confirmed that there are currently no Ebola cases recorded in the UAE. Still, the news quickly drew attention online, especially after details emerged that the traveller had spent time in the Emirates before arriving in Uganda.
UAE Confirms No Ebola Cases After Traveller Tested Positive In Uganda
The Ministry of Health and Prevention, also known as MoHAP, said the country’s health systems remain fully prepared and that monitoring measures are already in place. According to the ministry, the traveller did not visit any hospital or healthcare centre during their stay in the UAE.
Because of how quickly rumours move these days, many residents immediately started asking questions online. Some were worried about airports, while others wondered if screenings had already started. But the ministry’s message was pretty direct: there is no confirmed Ebola case inside the country.
UAE Officials Say There’s No Need To Panic
Also, officials said that precautionary measures had already been implemented as part of the UAE’s routine public health procedures. This included assessing potential risks, tracing contacts as needed, and following approved safety protocols.
The UAE has dealt with global health alerts before, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic changed how countries respond to infectious diseases. So authorities now tend to react fast, even before panic spreads widely.
Health Teams Activated Checks Early
MoHAP also said it is staying in contact with the World Health Organisation and other international health agencies to keep track of developments linked to the virus. Health officials added that disease surveillance systems across the UAE continue to operate at a high level.
But alongside the health updates, there was another message from authorities to stop spreading unverified information.

Authorities Want Residents To Ignore Rumours
The ministry urged people not to rely on random posts or forwarded messages online. Instead, residents were asked to follow official government channels for updates if the situation changes.
That said, health scares involving diseases like Ebola tend to trigger anxiety quickly because of how serious the virus is known to be globally. Even when there is no local outbreak, people naturally get nervous hearing the name.
At the moment, though, UAE officials say there is no reason for alarm, and no Ebola infections have been detected within the country.
