Dubai has no shortage of dating apps, but one new arrival is taking a rather different approach to finding people for their other half. Meet Auntee, an AI-powered matchmaking app that has launched in the UAE and wants to do something that sounds suspiciously like what your favourite family aunty has been doing for years: find you a suitable partner. The catch is that this aunty is powered by artificial intelligence.

Forget Endless Swiping
Instead of asking users to spend hours swiping through profile pictures, Auntee begins with a 15-minute voice interview. During the conversation, the AI asks about areas including values, ambitions, lifestyle, communication style and plans for the future.
The idea is to create a more detailed picture of the person behind the dating profile rather than relying solely on photographs and short written prompts. Once the interview is complete, Auntee builds the user’s profile and begins searching for potential matches.
The AI Looks At 14 Behavioural Dimensions

Rather than presenting users with an endless list of profiles, the app is designed to make a smaller number of introductions based on the information gathered during the voice interview. It is a noticeably different approach from traditional swipe-based dating apps, where the first decision can often be reduced to a photograph and a few lines of information.
Auntee’s pitch is essentially that compatibility deserves more than a quick left or right swipe.
Your First Conversation Is Free
There is also a free entry point. Users can complete the voice interview and create their profile without paying. Those who want Auntee to actively carry out the matchmaking can then sign up for a 90-day matchmaking “season”.
The standard price is AED 699, although early adopters can currently access the service for AED 245. That puts the app somewhere between a conventional dating platform and a more personalised matchmaking service.
Thousands Have Already Tried It
According to SceneNow, more than 3,000 people have already used Auntee, while the service has made more than 500 introductions so far. The app was founded by Zain Shaikh, who is described as its “cupid-in-chief”.
Its UAE launch comes as artificial intelligence continues to move into increasingly personal areas of everyday life, from work and shopping to health, entertainment and now, apparently, finding a date. Whether users are comfortable letting an AI analyse their relationship preferences is another question altogether.
But if your relatives have spent years asking why you are still single, Auntee at least offers a slightly more modern alternative to being introduced to someone’s cousin’s neighbour.

How Does Auntee Work?
The process starts with a 15-minute voice interview. Auntee then uses the information to create a profile and assess potential compatibility across 14 behavioural dimensions.
Users can access the interview and profile creation for free, while the paid 90-day matchmaking service costs AED 699 under the standard pricing, with an early-adopter price of AED 245 currently available.
