Camping during the winter months is truly one of the most exquisite experiences. And Jebel Hefeet in Al Ain is one of the most beloved mountain getaways in the UAE. As it happens, Dubai-area officials have now introduced a new rule that you will want to know. Yes, barbecue is now banned in several parking areas at Jal Hafi.
No More Barbecue At Jebel Hefeet?
If visitors are caught lighting off grills in prohibited areas, they can face a fine, which can escalate with repeated violations, up to AED4,000. Yes, this comes as authorities are clamping down on littering and the misuse of scenic sites. As revealed in a report of Times of India, Jebel Hefeet is a dramatic mountain with sweeping views, making it a family-friendly attraction. As it happened, the Green Mubazzarah Park here attracts hundreds and thousands of residents and tourists every year, especially when the weather turns cooler.
Warning Signs Prohibiting Barbecue
However, with the growing concern over environmental impact and mounting waste that is left behind by visitors, the Department of Municipalities and Transport and Al Ain City Municipality are taking stern action. They have placed multiple warning signs across the parking lot and popular picnic spots, which mention how barbecue is prohibited in the area.

Fine For Offence
For the first offence, it will set you back by a fine of AED1,000. For repeated offence, it is AED2,000, and for subsequent offences it is AED4,000. Although barbecue at scenic venues like Jebel Hefeet is a weekend staple for families, with the new restrictions, the aim is to preserve the sensitive outdoor site. Although barbecue in the parking lot has become off-limits, authorities are reminding people that there are designated areas in the park across Abu Dhabi, such as Al Sulaimi and Al Mebrazah parks, that allow barbecue gatherings.
To surmise, although grills will need to be left at home, if you are planning a scenic outing to the Jebel Hafeet, you will be limited to the official barbecue zones. The ban aims to balance the enjoyment of the mountain’s natural charm while preserving the environment.
