The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs recently introduced a new service. This is through the Amer Contact Centre. The service allows residents to report cybersecurity incidents and suspicious online activities. Here’s all you need to know about this development coming in from Dubai.

What Is The Amer Cybersecurity Reporting Service?

As a part of the ongoing effort to strengthen digital safety, this move aims to protect the community. The protection is against rising cyber fraud threats, as revealed in a report of the Gulf News. It should be noted that authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant. They’ve also been asked to be cautious of suspicious messages that they may receive. And it also extends to websites that may impersonate official entities like the GDRFA Dubai.

It should be noted that the residents have been encouraged to cyber security incident reporting option. This is available via the Amer Contact Centre (800 5111). This can be used for reporting any suspected fraud immediately.

When To Report These Incidents?

As mentioned by the authorities, residents should report the incidents in the following cases.

  • If accounts misues entity’s name
  • Websites that may impersonate the official entities
  • In case of a suspected cybersecurity threat
  • If there are fake or misleading digital transactions

It has also been stressed by the officials that swift reports play an important role in preventing cybercrime. Not to mention, it helps in safeguarding the wider community. As it happens, protection of the user’s digital security remains a top priority for the GDRFA. So, residents have been asked to be alert and report if there is any suspicious activity.

UAE Warns Against Scam Messages

This development comes at a time when the authorities have warned against scam messages. These messages tend to impersonate officials and often mention that the recipient has fallen into legal troubles. They then ask them to follow urgent instructions under the threat of penalties. Authorities have stressed that these messages are not associated with them.
