Dubai has always extended kind gestures. But sometimes, the most meaningful moves come quietly. This week, Dubai Municipality announced the launch of the Fountains of Mercy project. A city-wide initiative designed to provide drinking water for birds and wild animals across the emirate.

Dubai Launches ‘Fountains Of Mercy’ Project To Provide Year-Round Water For Birds And Wildlife

Dubai Municipality has installed 50 dedicated water fountains in carefully chosen locations. They plan to keep them running all year as the wildlife get access to drink safely, whether it’s peak summer heat or a mild winter morning.

Details of the initiative were first reported by Gulf News, highlighting how the project ties environmental care to everyday urban life.

What The Project Looks Like On The Ground

The rollout splits evenly across environments, placing 25 fountains in urban areas to serve birds that live among the city’s buildings and parks. The remaining 25 will be installed in desert and rural locations to support wild animals that struggle to find water naturally.

Each fountain uses durable, high-quality materials built to last for years. Officials designed them for easy upkeep and long-term use, following international environmental standards.

Sustainable And Smart Initiative

The intiative seek make these fountains sustainable as each one runs on solar energy. This turns operations efficient. The systems also control water use carefully, ensuring no wastage.

By operating year-round, the fountains offer consistency, eliminating the dependency on rainfall or unsafe sources as the only way to access drinking water.

The project aligns closely with the values long championed by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum: mercy, generosity, and responsibility toward both people and nature. Officials said the initiative reinforces Dubai’s belief that development should never come at the cost of compassion.

Backed By Giving, Built For Impact

A charitable endowment from a Dubai-based benefactor is funding the project. That support reflects a wider culture of giving that continues to shape how the emirate grows.

Sometimes, progress doesn’t need to be loud but just to be kind and built to last.
