This initiative has been launched under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and the Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. The aim of this project is to blend history, culture and modern design. All of this will be done through an immersive lighting experience.
A Part Of Dubai Municipality’s Effort To Improve Public Spaces
It should be noted that this project is a part of Dubai Municipality’s wider efforts to improve public spaces. It would stretch across 8 km of the bike Creek. Moreover, as revealed by the Dubai Media Office, the project will use over 5,000 lighting units. This would highlight the waterfront’s historic district and architectural landmarks. Moreover, the lighting display will also be available from over 1,500 feet above the ground. As a result, it would create a gorgeous nighttime skyline.
The Project Would Cover Six Key Locations
Coming to the project, it would cover six key locations. These include the following:
- Creek Quay
- Creek Promenade at the Gold Souq
- Creek entrance at Infinity Bridge
- Al Shindagha Historic District
- Bur Dubai Souq
- Al Seef Marina
- More About The Project
Each of these areas would feature a customised lighting design, which would reflect its character while also preserving the historic identity of the creek. Moreover, Dubai Municipality has also said that the project has been designed keeping sustainability in mind.
The lighting system would minimise the impact on marine life while also enhancing the appearance of the area after dark. Additionally, the work will also include upgrades to the promenade lighting, creek entrance, waterfront walkway, and building façades. All of this would improve safety and also make the area more welcoming to pedestrians.
Paying tribute to the history, it gives light a new purpose. Instead of guiding ships, Dubai Creek lights will create memorable experiences for people. This project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027. Once done, it would further strengthen the area’s position as one of the most important historical, cultural, and tourism destinations in the emirate
