Recently, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and Google announced the launch of Map Your Dubai: Insider Edition. This is an initiative which aims to support the local F&B sector. Basically, local guides, who are the local global community of volunteers writing reviews on Google Maps, will share their favourite list of restaurants and cafes. This will then be followed by public voting, which would drive visits and promote growth for local businesses.
DET Launches Map Your Dubai
The initiative was launched during an exclusive breakfast experience, which took place at the historic Etihad Museum. It was attended by Ahmad Al Room Almheiri, who is the CEO of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development. Additionally, several senior officials, influential content creators from regional food, community, and hometown culinary entrepreneurs were also present for the launch.
A Community-Led Movement By DET
It should be noted that this initiative is being developed as a part of From Dubai, For Dubai. This is a community-led movement by DET, which aims to support the people, businesses, and ideas shaping everyday life in Dubai. The Map Your Dubai initiative encourages visitors, residents, creators, and digital communities to discover and recommend Dubai-based businesses. Through this campaign, it brings existing initiatives and acts of support under one shared narrative.

More About The Initiative
The Map Your Dubai initiative empowers Dubai’s passionate local guide community. Yes, it allows them to build a highly curated thematic list directly on Google Maps. This would allow them to spotlight the best-kept culinary secrets of Dubai and neighbourhood gems. Additionally, the local guides are active users on Google Maps. They shape the platform by leaving reviews, answering questions, uploading photos, and editing location details.
Voting Opens On June 22nd
The public is invited to explore a curated list that is consolidated on the official campaign portal. They can explore and visit them directly through their personal Google Maps accounts. Not only this, they can also cast their vote for the favourite culinary list, and the voting will be open on June 22nd and will continue to remain open until July 6th.
