Recently, Dubai received proposals from six consulting groups for the proposed 55 km Airport Express Line. This comes as the Dubai Roads & Transport Authority is studying and seeking design services for the rail corridor that could link Dubai International Airport with Al Maktoum International Airport. Here’s everything you need to know about this development of the proposed line.
Dubai Receives Proposals For Airport Express Line
Arabian Business, in its report, has mentioned how the planned infrastructure for the Airport Express Line includes five stations on the route. In fact, passengers might also be able to make use of facilities like remote airline check-in, security screening, and baggage drop-off. Coming to the service, it is supposed to eventually connect Dubai International Airport with Al Maktoum International Airport.
More About The Proposed Line
The airport line is supposed to be 55 km long. However, a timeframe is yet to be confirmed for the project by the Dubai RTA. It was mentioned by the National News that the Dubai Metro Red Line Station at DXB would be the start for the new train line, which would travel through Al Jaddaf and along the Al Khail Road with a stop at Gold Line Metro Station in Jumeirah Village Circle before it ends at the other end of Dubai, which is at DWC. It is also expected that two offshoots may connect areas to the line at Jumeirah Village Circle Metro Station. One of the stations would be in Business Bay, and the other would connect to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station in Dubai Marina.
Coming to the six bids that have been submitted, these are by Aecom/Surbana Jurong, Jacobs (US), AtkinsRealis, Parsons/Arup, Systra/Egis, and WSP.

Everything About The Upcoming DWC
At this point, it’s worth mentioning that DWC or the Al Maktoum International Airport, is an upcoming airport, which is scheduled to become the world’s biggest airport by 2057. It would have a capacity to hold 260 million passengers annually. This mega hub would have 400 boarding gates. There would even be five parallel runways, and it would be the new home of Emirates. The airport at the moment runs passenger flights along with cargo and charter operations.
Another upcoming project here happens to be Etihad Rail’s Al Yalayis station in Dubai. This is expected to open at the end of next month, marking its first service to the emirate.
