Butterfly Garden in Dubai has garnered an amazing amount of visitors over the years. But if you land or reside in Abu Dhabi, you don’t need to travel to Dubai to experience the same. Abu Dhabi now has its own Butterfly Gardens, which recently opened its doors at Al Qana. Get ready for a slow, nature-led experience right in the city with a fully indoor and climate-controlled venue.
Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi Opens At Al Qana As A New Indoor Wildlife Escape
According to details shared with The UAE Stories, the attraction has been designed as a year-round wildlife space that prioritises immersion, education, and ethical protection.
Where It’s Located (And Why That Matters)
The gardens sit inside Al Qana, directly opposite The National Aquarium and just minutes from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. So plan a full day out without the need to bounce across the city.
Unlike outdoor parks, this one stays cool and comfortable no matter the season due to its climate-controlled venue.
Inside The Biodomes: What To Expect?
At the heart of the experience are more than 10,000 butterflies flying freely through walk-through biodomes. The design of the venue is inspired by landscapes across Asia and the Americas. There are no glass cases. You walk through lush greenery, gentle water features, and filtered light while butterflies move around you casually.
Beyond butterflies, the gardens house rare species including a two-toed sloth, Palawan bearcat, tamandua, Cuvier’s dwarf caiman, Sri Lankan giant squirrel, and Gouldian finches. These animals live in open habitats designed to reflect natural behaviour, giving visitors a closer view.

Ethical, Educational, And Purpose-Driven Destination
Butterflies come from conservation-led partnerships with small farming communities in Costa Rica and the Philippines, where breeding programmes support ecosystems and sustainable livelihoods.
Every month, selected butterflies are released back into the wild to aid pollination.
Schools can book sessions focused on biodiversity, ecosystems, and the importance of pollinators. Families and tourists can opt for guided tours.
Abu Dhabi’s newly opened Butterfly Garden is meant for slow walks and nature-led immersion.
