If you grew up anywhere near Kerala, you already know that Thrissur Pooram is more than an event for people. It’s kind of a celebration that takes over the heart before it takes over the streets. Last year, Dubai got a taste of Thrissur Pooram, and people absolutely fell head over heels for it. So, this year, the city is gearing up for something bigger, and we can’t wait any longer.

Dubai Hosts Authentic Thrissur Pooram With Historic Melam Performances

For starters, Padma Shri Jayaram is performing Panchari Melam for the first time outside Kerala. That itself is a big move. The man who grew up breathing this rhythm is bringing it to Dubai, and he’s doing it alongside his guru, Padma Shri Mattannoor Shankarankutty Marar. People have hardly witnessed this collab even in Thrissur. That alone would have pulled half the Malayali population of the UAE to Etisalat Academy. But the organisers clearly decided to go all out.

According to Platinumlist and MMDE Thrissur UAE, joining them is Kizhakkoottu Aniyan Marar, the Melapramani of the legendary Ilanjithara Melam. And Paramekkavu Abhishek, the youngest Melapramani of Thrissur Pooram. Expect nothing but the energy that could wake up an entire city block. Add Job Kurian and Sayanora to the mix, and you’ve got a music lineup that can easily blow past midnight.

Kerala’s Iconic Thrissur Pooram Brings Majestic Processions To Dubai

A 40-foot illuminated Poorappanthal will rise at the venue, a first for the UAE. Seven life-sized robotic elephants will stand tall, each decorated with the kind of detail we usually only see back home. Machad Mamangam brings its majestic horse procession. Aanachamayam adds the royal touch with its ornament parade. Then there’s Ghoshayathra.

Dubai, being Dubai, things won’t stop there. Ghadaka Poorams, Kavadi, Bhasmakavadi, Veeranatyam, Nadaswaram, Keli, Shinkari Fusion, and even DJ performances are lined up. It’s basically Thrissur Pooram without the limits of geography, space, or volume restrictions.

Event Details

What makes this version special is simple: this is the only Pooram outside Kerala where the real artists of Thrissur Pooram perform. No replicas or shortcuts. Just the raw, thundering heart of the festival was transported straight to Dubai.

The event runs on 1 and 2 December 2025 at Etisalat Academy. Day 1 is free entry, kids under 10 walk in free. Also, there are group offers to take advantage of.

So, what’re you waiting for? Mark your calendars and gather your loved ones to attend Thrissur Pooram in Dubai.
