The second edition of Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennale is all set to make its comeback. It is going to transform public spaces with artworks and beautiful installations across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Returning in October and November, here’s when this much-awaited art programme is making a return.

Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennale is all set to make its comeback. It will be opening in Al Ain on October 23rd, after which it will be launching in Abu Dhabi on November 15th. During this art event, a series of art commissions and public projects will be displayed across both cities. The National News mentions how the second edition will be led by Artistic Director Elvira Dyangani Ose. He is the former director of MACBA, and it will be centred around the theme ‘Home: A Glossary for a Communal Sense of Place’.
It Would Explore The Concept Of Home
This Biennale will explore home as a concept that is shaped by communities, shared experiences and everyday interactions. In fact, through new commissions, research projects, and public programmes, the exhibition aims to encourage audience engagement with art beyond traditional space.
The approach comes after the success of the inaugural edition, which ran from November 2024 to April 2025. This was under the theme of public matter, and it featured a site-specific commission by artists from the UAE. Several incredible exhibits were a part of the previous edition. We are talking about Barzakh by Wael Al Awar along the Corniche and Tentarium by Paweł Althamer at Lake Park.

It Positions Public Art As A Visual Intervention
So, the new addition will continue to position public art as a visual intervention, presenting it as a way to encourage participation, dialogue, and a shared sense of the place. It should be noted that this programme will explore the evolving urban land and material culture, while also inviting residents and visitors to encounter art as a part of daily life.
