Qatar’s National Day celebrations officially opened at Darb Al Saai in the Umm Salal area. It is setting the tone for a week of cultural pride and public festivity. Minister of Culture H E Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Thani inaugurated the 2025 edition. The inaugural took place under the slogan “With You It Rises, From You It Awaits.” It’s a message that threads through every corner of this year’s programme. The Ministry of Culture has curated events that will run until December 20. Qatar is expected to draw citizens and residents into a space built to honour the country’s identity.

The ceremony began with the national flag rising over the main square. The grand event was accompanied by patriotic songs, a traditional parade starring Arabian horses, camels, and the rhythmic energy of the Qatari Ardah, as mentioned in a report by Peninsula Qatar.
A Walk Through Qatar’s Cultural Landscape
Once the inauguration wrapped, the Minister of Culture, joined by ambassadors and senior officials, moved through the vast 150,000-square-metre grounds. The site, long considered a national meeting point, is designed to showcase the country’s roots through heritage pavilions, cultural installations and artistic displays. Every section of Darb Al Saai has been set up to create a bridge between the past and the present. Families, students and visitors get a chance to reconnect with traditional values of Qatar.
On the first day of the event, crowds formed early, filling the walkways. The mix of heritage activities, live performances and family-friendly corners set the tone for the day.

A Message That Frames This Year’s Identity
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and General Supervisor of the celebrations, H E Dr. Ghanem bin Mubarak Al Ali, highlighted how the slogan reflects Qatar’s approach this year. He described Darb Al Saai as a renewed national message. It’s the one that anchors pride in the country’s past while maintaining a future-focused outlook. It’s built on effort, confidence and cultural continuity.
He noted that this edition places strong emphasis on reinforcing national identity and highlighting authentic Qatari values.
