People in Dubai have been talking about Berenjak for a while now. The London-born Persian restaurant built a loyal crowd there pretty quickly, and then Sharjah followed. Now Abu Dhabi finally has its own outpost of Berenjak officially opened inside “The House” in Al Bateen with Belhasa Hospitality.

London Favourite Berenjak Has Officially Opened In Abu Dhabi

The space feels less like a regular restaurant and more like someone’s carefully designed home where every corner has a story attached to it.

The new branch spreads across two floors inside a standalone villa. From the moment you walk in, the interiors feel warm and slightly nostalgic without trying too hard. Dark oak furniture, aged brass tabletops and soft lighting give the whole place a calm glow, especially in the evenings.

Persian Art, Open Kitchens & A Cosy Chef’s Table

The ceilings are covered with timber detailing and chandeliers, while old Persian artworks line the walls throughout the restaurant. Some of the pieces date back to the 19th and early 20th centuries, adding a lived-in feeling rather than making the place look overly polished.

Also, the kitchen is completely open. Guests can watch chefs working over the mangal grill throughout service, which adds a bit of movement and energy to the dining room. Right in the middle sits a small four-seater chef’s table surrounded by mosaic flooring and olive-green chairs with brass details.

Vintage-style ceiling fans hang above fabric and leather banquettes, while upstairs the atmosphere changes slightly.

Upstairs Feels More Like A Hidden Dining Room

A staircase framed with cream drapes leads guests upstairs, where a large royal portrait welcomes people into the second-floor dining area.

There are booth seats tucked behind linen curtains for extra privacy, and shelves filled with brass decor pieces scattered around the room. A few steps further in, there’s a private dining room that can host up to 16 people overlooking the villa’s garden.

For many people, that space will probably end up becoming the spot for birthdays, long dinners or family gatherings.

The Menu Stays Rooted In Persian Comfort Food

Food-wise, Berenjak focuses heavily on Persian classics inspired by family recipes linked to founder Kian Samyani’s heritage.

There’s hummus made with black chickpeas, Kashk-e Bademjoon with charred aubergine, and popular Iranian kababs like Koobideh and Jujeh Kabab cooked over the mangal grill.

Also, Ghormeh Sabzi, Iran’s famous herb stew, remains one of the comforting staples on the menu.

Abu Dhabi diners will also get something exclusive. A Persian Tea Ice Cream created specially for this branch, blending creamy sweetness with subtle Earl Grey flavours.
