Sharjah’s dining scene just picked up something it didn’t quite have before. Murmur has opened in Aljada, and it’s being billed as the emirate’s 1st homegrown Emirati fine-dining concept, a modern bistro that offers “intentional gastronomy”.

Murmur Opens In Aljada As Sharjah’s First Homegrown Emirati Fine-Dining Concept

Murmur takes its cue from murmuration, those sweeping, synchronised formations birds make when they move together in flight. The idea driving the concept is movement itself: ingredients, cultures and people crossing borders, picking things up along the way. It’s a nice metaphor for a menu that’s doing exactly that.

What’s Actually On The Plate

Starters lean playful. There’s Machboos Arancini, a crisp, fried spin on the classic Emirati rice dish, alongside Bombay Butter Arayes, which tucks butter chicken inside a house-made naan pocket. The Wagyu Short Rib Hummus is arguably the boldest of the three, pairing black chickpea hummus with braised short ribs and a finish of truffle.

Mains keep the cross-cultural theme going. The Musakhan Lasagna layers meat musakhan ragout with fried onions in place of pasta’s usual tomato base, an unexpected but apparently well-judged combination. There’s also a Murmur Burger built on a matcha Hokkaido milk bun with coffee bacon jam and the Marrakesh Lamb, slow-braised and regionally inspired. For dessert, the Karak San Sebastián reimagines the region’s favourite tea as a burnt Basque cheesecake, while the Baked Pecan Cookie arrives warm, clearly built for sharing.

The beverage programme skips conventional soft drinks in favour of house-made sodas and pairings built specifically around the menu, and the space itself runs on handcrafted tableware and interiors rather than off-the-shelf design.

Murmur is now open at Aljada, Sharjah.
