If you were around in Dubai, UAE, between 2008 and 2012, you might remember a brief, glorious window when Taco Bell had branches at Dubai Mall, Deira City Centre, and Mirdif City Centre. Then, just as quietly as it arrived, it vanished. Well, grab your Crunchwrap cravings, because Taco Bell is officially heading back to the UAE, and this time, it’s arriving with a much bigger plan.
Taco Bell’s Long-Awaited Return To The UAE
The news comes via a fresh partnership between Americana Restaurants, the region’s largest quick-service restaurant operator, already behind the likes of KFC, Pizza Hut, and Krispy Kreme locally, and Taco Bell UK and Europe Ltd, a Yum! Brands subsidiary. The deal makes the UAE the very first market for this new chapter of Taco Bell in the region, with additional GCC countries set to follow through a phased expansion.
A Blast From The Past, Remember When Taco Bell Was Here Before?
For context, Taco Bell’s first UAE run wasn’t exactly short-lived, but it wasn’t permanent either. Founded all the way back in 1962 by Glen Bell in California, the brand has since grown into a genuine global phenomenon with more than 9,000 restaurants across over 40 markets, all under the same Yum! Brands umbrella, which includes KFC and Pizza Hut. Its 2008 Dubai debut gave the city an early taste of Crunchwrap Supremes and Doritos Locos Tacos, but by 2012, all three branches had shuttered.
This time around, the backing looks a lot more solid. Americana Restaurants isn’t a newcomer to the region’s fast food scene, and its “decades-long relationship” with Yum! Brands mean this isn’t a first-timer for them.

What This Means For The UAE’s Fast Food Scene
The UAE’s food scene is no stranger to global brands jostling for space, but Taco Bell brings something genuinely different: a Mexican-inspired menu in a market that’s dominated by burgers, shawarma, and biryani options. That alone should make it stand out on delivery apps and food courts alike.
Exact opening dates, locations, and menu details are still under wraps.
