The new Dubai Chocolate Xiao Long Bao combines chocolate, pistachio and crunchy kunafa inside the brand’s signature dumpling folds. It sounds slightly chaotic on paper, but that’s probably why people are already curious about it. And honestly, this might be one of the more unexpected versions of Dubai chocolate we’ve seen so far.

The dessert-inspired dumpling brings together flavours that have become pretty familiar across the UAE.

You’ve got rich chocolate pistachio and crispy kunafa. The combination has been everywhere lately, but Din Tai Fung has chosen a very different format for it. Instead of putting it inside a pastry or dessert bar, the restaurant has wrapped everything inside its famous xiao long bao.

The restaurant says the creation still keeps the craftsmanship it’s known for, with the filling enclosed in the same carefully folded dumpling style diners already recognise.

Right now, the Dubai Chocolate Xiao Long Bao is only available at Din Tai Fung’s Mall of the Emirates branch.

So if you’ve spotted videos online and wondered where to find them, that’s currently your only stop.

Also, it’s priced at AED35 for three pieces, making it a fairly easy order if you’re already dining there and want to try something different.
