A Woman Delivers Baby On Air India Express Mumbai-Bound Flight From Muscat; Details Inside

But sometimes, emergencies happen in such a way that even if a person has a plan set, something opposite might happen. A Thai national faced a similar predicament when she ended up delivering a baby mid-air on the Air India Express flight from Muscat to Mumbai. Here’s what happened!

Thai National Delivers Baby Mid-Air

An incredible birth story, a Thai national who was flying from Muscat to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport underwent a sudden medical emergency. The woman had gone into labour all of a sudden on the Air India Express flight. As a result, this ended up being a dramatic birth story as reported by the Gulf News, when the crew, along with a nurse among the passengers, delivered the baby.

This Incident Happened On An Air India Express Flight

As revealed in the report, the cabin crew immediately jumped into action and made use of the rigorous training. They have been trying to create a safe and supportive environment for the impending birth, and they did exactly that. As the woman delivered the baby 35,000 feet in the sky, the flight deck crew were quick to alert air traffic control. By doing so, they requested priority landing in Mumbai.

Once the flight landed, the medical team and ambulance were waiting on the ground and received the mother and the newborn. Thereafter, the duo was swiftly transferred to the nearby hospital for post-natal care. An Air India staff member also accompanied them. As it happens, the airline has also contacted the Consulate General of Thailand in Mumbai, so that they can offer assistance to the new mother.
