If you are heading out in Dubai or Abu Dhabi this weekend, you need to read this now. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out several road and public transport updates. Some closures and rerouting have been announced tied to major events in the Emirates. So, planning a little now can save you a lot of horn-honking later and time-wasting.
From Metro To Road Closures, Dubai Weekend Travel Guide
From cycling races to the Dubai Marathon and a popular art festival, multiple routes and timings will shift.
According to a report by the Gulf News account site, these temporary changes affect Al Qudra Cycling Track access, Dubai Metro operating hours, and selected Abu Dhabi roads.
Al Qudra Cycling Track Closed For Desert Race
Cyclists and motorists near Al Qudra, The Al Qudra Cycling Track will stay closed on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The closure supports the Open Desert Race, part of the 10th Al Salam Cycling Championship season. The race begins at 1:30 pm from the nearby desert area and runs for around four hours. Officials will reopen the track once the event wraps up and the route clears.
Dubai Marathon Brings Early Metro Start
Dubai Marathon runners will hit the road early on Sunday, February 1. Metro will match the hours. Instead of the usual 8:00 am Sunday start, the Dubai Metro will begin service at 5:00 am and continue until midnight.
The marathon features 42 km, 10 km, and 4 km race categories and draws runners of all ages. It also draws crowds, road controls, and heavy traffic near the route. Public transport will be your best friend that morning.
