Emirates has suspended its codeshare operations with flydubai to and from Tel Aviv, with immediate effect and until further notice. The airline shared the update on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, and affected customers are being asked to check in with their travel agent or the airline.
What Led To The Suspension Of Flights?
The decision follows an incident on flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai International (DXB) to Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv on 30 September. As stated in Gulf News, flydubai informed that there was an altercation in the flight deck. The aircraft was secured by flydubai crew travelling on the flight, who diverted it and landed it safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
flydubai has said the underlying reasons remain subject to formal investigation and that it is fully supporting the process in coordination with government authorities, regulators and airport stakeholders. The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed a security incident, and the UAE Attorney-General has ordered an investigation, according to Gulf News.
What It Means For Passengers
The Emirates and flydubai codeshare partnership has allowed customers to connect between the two airlines’ networks through Dubai, which is why the pause affects bookings made on either carrier’s tickets for this route.
Emirates has outlined the following steps:
- Travellers heading to Tel Aviv as their final destination will not be permitted to begin their journey from their departure airport.
- Passengers who are already travelling to Tel Aviv will continue to receive assistance to help them complete their journeys.
- Those who have not yet travelled should check with their travel agent, contact the Emirates contact centre or visit the Emirates website for the latest travel updates.
Meanwhile, flydubai has also suspended flights to and from Israel as investigations continue
Flight information from Dubai International Airport showed several flydubai services to Tel Aviv cancelled on Thursday, 1 October, including some operating under Emirates codeshare numbers.

Before You Head To The Airport
Schedules can change at short notice, so it is worth checking your booking before you leave home. Emirates has advised passengers on connecting services operated by codeshare partners to check the operating carrier’s website and notes that the status of some flights may only appear within 24 hours of departure. flydubai says its check-in counters close 60 minutes before scheduled departure, unless you receive different instructions by SMS or email.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the incident. We will keep this story updated as more information is shared by the airlines and the authorities.
