According to reporting credited to The National, seven new stations were confirmed on Thursday. The country’s first nationwide passenger rail service is finally coming together, and residents are delighted. Ten of the fleet’s 13 passenger trains have already arrived in the UAE, with completion of safety testing.
Seven New Stations Added Across Abu Dhabi And Sharjah
The latest announcement brings fresh stations to underserved regions like the Al Dhafra area of Abu Dhabi. New passenger stations will open in Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa and Al Faya in the UAE capital. Sharjah is included in the list with a station allotted in Al Dhaid.
These new additions support the regional connectivity, giving smaller communities direct access to the national rail network.
Previously Announced Stations, Now Fully Mapped
Etihad Rail also confirmed the exact locations of four stations announced earlier. These include Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, University City in Sharjah and Al Hilal in Fujairah.
What It’ll Be Like On Board
The trains promise a practical, commuter-friendly experience. Expect ergonomic seating, modern interiors, Wi-Fi throughout and power sockets at every seat. Services will run on fixed schedules, cutting out road congestion entirely. Travel times from Abu Dhabi to Dubai are 57 minutes, and from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah are 105 minutes. Sounds unbelievable, but true!
Last year, the company also confirmed plans for a high-speed line between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which will cut the travel time to just 30 minutes. But no launch date has been announced yet for the same.
