Digitising its travel journey, here’s all you need to know about this development, which allows residents and tourists to declare their cash on the Sahel App.
Travellers Carrying KWD3,000 Must Declare Through Sahel App
Whether you happen to be someone who is travelling to or from Kuwait, you will have to declare large sums of cash or precious. And instead of going through the old manual paperwork, you can do it through a sleek, mobile-friendly process. Yes, you can now settle your custom requirements before you even reach the terminal, as revealed in a report of The Times of India.
Digitising The Declaration Process
With the introduction of the new cash declaration rule, it is now mandatory to declare this electronically. Yes, the mandatory electronic cash declaration system is required by all travellers, whether they are citizens, tourists, or residents. Any cash that exceeds KWD3,000 while entering or leaving the country must be declared electronically on the app. This can be done through the Sahel App, which is a unified government services platform. This new system was launched by the General Administration of Customs. With the aim of pushing the country towards digital transformation for financial monitoring and borders, this rule is applicable at all entry and exit points.

This Would Make The Process A Lot Seamless
As it happens, the total amount carried can either be in Kuwaiti Dinar or a foreign currency equivalent has to be mentioned at the airport. Basically, once the submission is made online, the system generates a digital acknowledgement that the customs officers will be able to verify instantly. Not to mention, it replaces the previous paper-based disclosure forms and also reduces manual processing time. With this, customs officers will now get access to real-time data, which would allow a quicker verification and a smoother passenger flow.
It should be noted that the declared amounts that exceeded KWD3,000 can result in legal consequences. The report mentions that undeclared cash can be temporarily seized with there being investigation, fines, or even legal action on the basis of circumstances. This declaration process is quite straightforward and digital, with there being little room for excuse.
So, with the customs declaration option online, the digital border management just became a lot easier and seamless for travellers, as it saves them from standing in unnecessary queues and manual work, especially during peak travel season.
