Middle East Airspace Disruptions Hit Oman Air Flights, Qatar Airways Adjusts Schedule
According to the report by Muscat Daily, Oman Air has increased its flight cancellation programme following the unavailability of several air corridors within the region. The airline affirmed that it will cancel all the scheduled flights in and out of the nine destinations between March 9 and March 15.
The cities that are affected are Amman, Dubai, Bahrain, Doha, Dammam, and Kuwait. They have also put international flights to Copenhagen and Baghdad on hold, and the local flight to Khasab.
According to airline authorities, the constant unrest in the regional airspace compelled them to cancel these flights since certain routes were no longer safe and accessible to commercial planes.
Additional Flights On Other Routes
Oman Air has also implemented extra flights in alternative routes where it can still operate to minimise travelling inconvenience.
Customers who have already reserved their tickets are advised to visit the airline’s information site or download the mobile app to get updated. The carrier has also promoted online booking of travellers to rebook or modify travel plans. Oman Air added that it was sorry for the inconvenience, but safety was its priority.
Qatar Airways Limited Has Limited Flights
In the meantime, Qatar Airways has cancelled most of its regular flights following the shutdown of Qatar’s airspace. Nevertheless, the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority has given the airline permission for limited flights on limited routes.
The airline will operate flights to key international destinations such as London, Delhi, Mumbai, Seoul, Madrid, Frankfurt, Istanbul and Nairobi, among others, within the next few days starting in Doha. The flights are meant to assist stranded passengers in making contact with their families or resuming their travels.
