Sri Lanka just announced that it’s waiving tourist visa fees under a new scheme for Omani citizens. Under this rule, Omani citizens can travel easily to the country, making their travel more affordable. Here’s all you need to know about the visa-related development coming in from Sri Lanka for Omani citizens.

Free Tourist Visas For Oman Citizens

A Gulf News report has mentioned that Omani citizens can now travel to Sri Lanka without paying the tourist visa fee. Yes, this is available since May 25th, and basically, travellers get to obtain a 30-day double-entry visa. This is through the country’s Electronic Travel Authorisation System. Omani nationals can get the visas online by applying for them before travelling. Once it is approved, visitors can enter the country for up to 30 days. They are given two entries during the validity period

A Simplified Access To The Country

As mentioned by the ministry, this move forms part of the country’s effort to facilitate tourism and strengthen travel. Not to mention, it also offers many citizens simplified access to one of South Asia’s most popular holiday destinations. As mentioned in the report, the guidance has been issued to travellers, with the ministry stressing the importance of completing all the entry procedures before departure.

Sri Lanka Recently Introduced The ETA System

Before departing for the airport, one must make sure that certain things are in order. Passports must remain valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the country. Visitors must also obtain health insurance, which covers the entire duration of their stay. The ministry has also clarified that travellers who leave Sri Lanka and return during the authorised period can use a second entry under the same visa approval. However, the remaining balance of the original 30 days will apply.

In the case where a visitor wants to remain in Sri Lanka beyond the authorised duration, they will have to pay the extension fee. This would be subject to the payment of applicable fees. Not to mention, it should be in compliance with local immigration regulations. The development from Sri Lanka comes just a few days after ETA tourist visas were launched for several countries. These included travels from 40 countries under a new system.
