The National Authority for Egyptian Railways is making train travel easier for people with disabilities. From 1 October 2026, people with disabilities and companions can book Egypt train tickets online through the railway’s website and official mobile application.

Egypt Railways Now Lets People With Disabilities Book Train Tickets Online

No More Queuing At Ticket Counters

The new service removes the need to visit a ticket counter in person. Instead, eligibility is checked digitally, by matching the passenger’s national ID with their integrated services card. If a companion is travelling too, their details will also be verified through the system.

For many passengers, that means planning a journey from home, at a time that suits them, rather than arranging a trip to the station just to buy a ticket.

Where To Book

Bookings are available in two places:

  • The railway’s official app, on both Google Play and the Apple App Store
  • The railway’s online reservation portal

The One Rule To Remember: Details Must Match Exactly

The railway has been clear on one point. The names printed on tickets must match official records exactly. If the identification details or the services card do not correspond with the booking, the passenger will be treated as travelling without a valid ticket. In that case, the normal fare and the applicable fine will be collected.

In practice, that makes accuracy the most important part of the booking process. Before confirming, it is worth double-checking that:

  • The passenger’s name matches their national ID and integrated services card
  • The companion’s details, where one is included, are entered exactly as they appear on their official documents
  • The ID and services card you are using are the ones linked to the booking

Why It Matters

Accessible, independent ticketing is a small change with a big everyday impact. Moving the eligibility check online means passengers and their companions can handle the booking themselves, while the digital verification keeps the system consistent for everyone.

A quick note: the announcement covers eligible passengers and their designated companions, so it is worth confirming that both the passenger and any companion are registered correctly in the official records before you try to book. The railway has not set out further steps in the information available, so the app and website remain the best places to check.

If you are travelling to Egypt with a family member who has a disability, or have relatives who use the railways, it is worth sharing the update, especially the matching-details rule. For the latest information on booking, check the National Authority for Egyptian Railways’ official app or website before you travel.
