Emirates has finally rolled out its menu for Onam, and they will be serving Onam Sadhya on banana leaf dish liners.

Onam is here, and chances are that you already have plans to travel to your hometown in Kerala to celebrate with the entire family. And if you are someone who has plans to travel from the UAE, then Emirates has got you covered. Yes, the airline has finally rolled out its menu for the festival of Onam Sadhya. Offering regionally-inspired dishes, the seasonal menu will be served across all cabin classes for flights to and from Dubai to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

Emirates Serves Onam Sadhya On Select Routes

If you are travelling with Emirates to any of the aforementioned cities, then you are in for a treat, quite literary. Customers in all classes will be given traditional appetisers for lunch and dinner. This includes Sharkara Upperi, which is basically a banana roasted in sweet jaggery, Kondattam Mulaku AKA fried sundried chillies seeped in yoghurt, and Kaya Varuthathu – crisp banana chips.

Not only this, but customers will also get to indulge in flavourful dips that are essential to them. This includes Kaalan, which is made of coconut, fresh yoghurt and yam, Puli Inji (sweet and tangy ginger-based chutney), and Cucumber Pachadi. Those in the First and Business Class will be served Kerala-style pappadam and mango pickle

What About The Mains & Dessert?

Coming to the mains, people can expect Allepy Kozhi Curry, read spiced chicken in coconut sauce, which is served with Avial, Chemba Rice, and Cabbage Carrot Thoran. They can also expect Vegetarian Sadhya including Sambar and Kootu, or even Padavalanga Thoran served with Chemba Rice, Erissery and Bean Thoran. Those who are in the First Class can also choose their Kerala-style Chicken Stew.

For desserts, one can expect Palada Pradhaman, which is a creamy rice pudding served with roasted pistachio, cashew nuts and raisins. Or one can also choose to order Parippu Payasam, which is basically your sweet lentil pudding topped with roasted coconut flakes. The best bit is the fact that they will be serving meals on a banana leaf dish liner, for a truly authentic experience in the air!

So, offering an authentic feel to the Sadhya for travellers, they also get to enjoy over 6,500 channels of entertainment on Ice. Comprising 15 Malayalam movies, there are also 4,000 hours of music, podcasts and audiobooks, which are available in 40 different languages.
