Saudi Arabia Sets Rules For Domestic Workers In Probationary Period
Gulf News, in its report, mentions that this service is available electronically. The service can be used through the Absher platform. As a result, employers can complete final exit procedures for eligible domestic workers who are in the probationary period. However, workers must not be registered as deceased or absent from work. Other conditions are that the workers must be inside Saudi Arabia when the final exit visa is issued.
Both Are Allowed To Terminate The Employment
It should be noted that the probationary period allows employers to assess the professional competence of the domestic workers. Moreover, you also get to know about the personal conduct before the employment relationship can continue for a longer period. Employers and domestic workers both have the right to terminate the employment contract unilaterally during this period.
Additionally, domestic workers may be placed on probation more than once with the same employer. This is valid until both sides agree that the worker will take up a different job from the one that is covered during the initial probation period.

A More Flexible Pay System For Household System
This development comes months after Saudi Arabia, allowing employers to issue new residency permits for domestic workers. These were for periods starting from three months. Not to mention, they introduced a more flexible pay system for households manage employment costs. Basically, under the new arrangement, as mentioned in Okaz Newspaper, employers can select the residency period on the basis of three, six, nine, 12, 15, 18, 21, or 24 months. These are for domestic workers and others who are in equivalent categories. The permits can be issued or renewed through the Absher platform.
Through this new system, employers will be given greater flexibility when it comes to managing the financial obligations. Before this, residency renewals for domestic workers were mostly limited to periods of one or two years. Through this measure, Saudi efforts aim to modernise presidency services and improve the efficiency of government procedures.
