This removes the need to send the waste to landfill. As revealed by the Gulf News, this system also helps in reducing methane emissions that come from decomposing waste. Moreover, it also reduces the carbon footprint that is often associated with transporting food waste.
What Is Greywater?
But the next question that arises is ‘what is greywater?’ Well, greywater is used for irrigating landscaped gardens and green spaces at the resort. This, as a result, creates a closed-loop system, which transforms the waste from the kitchen into a valuable resource. Moreover, this initiative also builds on the resort’s broader sustainability programme. It also includes the Northern Emirates’ first on-site water bottle plant, which eliminates single-use plastic bottles.
