In a major update, the UK’s famous and one of the busiest airports, Manchester Airport, has made a major change. Yes, it was announced that two of the largest airlines from the UAE, Emirates and Etihad Airways, have shifted to a new terminal. Here’s all you need to know about this massive development that comes ahead of the busy winter travel season.
Emirates & Etihad Airways Moved To Terminal 2
If you have plans to travel between the UK and the UAE, you will want to know that Manchester Airport has moved Emirates and Etihad Airways to Terminal 2. This comes at a time when the route will become quite busy as it’s the winter travel season. The change also means that travellers will have to keep the relocation to Terminal 2 in mind while planning their journey. Even when they are looking for connecting flights, they will have to keep this factor in mind.
How Much Time Does It Take To Travel Between Terminals?
At this point, it’s worth noting that if someone’s looking for a connecting flight, the transfer between terminals takes anywhere between 5 to 15 minutes. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that it’s the third busiest airport in the UK. Additionally, it is the busiest airport in the nation outside of London. This is a big change as Emirates is currently based out of Terminal 1, and the switch will take place on Tuesday, November 18.

Etihad Airways Has Already Moved To Terminal 2
As it happens, Etihad Airways has already moved to Terminal 2 on November 12th. Emirates has therefore issued travel guidance to UK travellers so that they can ensure a smooth departure ahead of their switch. Passengers are advised to check the location of Terminal 2 before their travel date in order to ensure that they have sufficient time to reach the check-in area. Additionally, the Emirates Lounge at Manchester Airport has also temporarily been closed for renovation.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that this switch is a part of the £1.3 billion transformation programme that aims to bring more airlines to the upgraded Terminal 2.
