Regular and emergency consular services continue to be available to US citizens in Saudi Arabia. The Mission has advised anyone who needs assistance to contact their nearest US embassy or consulate.
Citizens have also been urged to enrol in the US Department of State’s Smart Traveller Enrolment Program (STEP). The programme provides security updates and helps the Mission stay in touch with citizens during an emergency.
What Citizens Are Being Told To Do
The alert lists several precautions for US citizens in the Kingdom. These include staying away from glass doors, windows and fallen debris in the event of an aerial attack.
Citizens have also been advised to monitor their phones and local media for official guidance. They should keep devices charged and have emergency numbers on hand.
The Mission has further advised citizens to avoid demonstrations and large gatherings. They should also steer clear of areas with a heavy police presence.
Citizens have been told to follow instructions from local authorities and contact airlines directly about any flight disruptions. They have also been advised to maintain a low profile and remain aware of their surroundings.
