Trying to find reliable information about Makkah can sometimes turn into a mess of random websites, outdated blogs and confusing maps. Now Saudi authorities are trying to fix that with a new digital platform called “Discover Makkah”. Launched by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, the platform is meant to act like a central guide for pilgrims and visitors heading to the holy city.

New ‘Discover Makkah’ Platform Helps Visitors Navigate Holy City

The idea is pretty simple. Instead of people jumping between different apps and websites looking for directions, landmarks or travel details, the platform brings everything together in one place.

It includes smart maps, trip-planning tools and information about important religious and historical locations across Makkah.

Also, the platform highlights museums, cultural attractions and sites connected to Islamic history. For many visitors coming to Saudi Arabia for the first time, especially during pilgrimage seasons, figuring out where things are can get overwhelming quickly.

That’s where this platform is supposed to help.

Why Was The Platform Created?

According to officials, the information on the website will stay regularly updated, so travellers aren’t relying on old or inaccurate details while moving around the city.

The commission’s CEO, Saleh Al-Rasheed, said the project is meant to improve how visitors experience Makkah while also organising information about the city in a clearer digital format.

But the platform is not only aimed at pilgrims, according to Arab News.

Researchers, residents, students and even content creators can use it too. The website reportedly includes verified photos and information that can be used for educational or creative projects linked to the city’s history and heritage.

That said, one of the more useful parts could be the planning tools. Large pilgrimage trips can become stressful very fast, especially for people unfamiliar with the city layout or travelling with families and elderly relatives.

A One-Stop Solution For Your Spiritual Journey

Having maps and location details inside one official source may save visitors a lot of unnecessary confusion.

The launch also connects to Saudi Arabia’s wider Saudi Vision 2030 plans focused on improving services linked to religious tourism and visitor experiences across the Kingdom.

For now, the platform is live online and available for anyone planning a trip to Makkah or simply wanting to learn more about the city.
