As Cold Wave Grips Large Parts Of Saudi Arabia, Temperatures Drop To Zero

A cold wave is gripping a large part of Saudi Arabia. And as the temperature continues to fall across several regions, it is often accompanied by active winds. And it is expected that temperatures might drop further as it intensifies in large parts of the kingdom, as revealed by the National Centre for Meteorology.

NCM Predicts Temperature Drop

A Gulf News report mentions how the NCM has revealed that the temperatures are expected to drop further. As a result, the temperature drop will affect a wide range of areas. Yes, this includes Makkah and Madinah, Al Jouf, Tabuk, the Northern Borders, Hail, Al Qassim, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province. However, residents have been warned to brace for cold conditions in the coming days.

Not only this, but parts of northwestern Tabuk also witnessed a sharp drop in temperatures early on Sunday. This was particularly in open areas and elevated terrains. Not to mention, frost was also observed forming in exposed locations as the cold wave continued to impact the northern regions of Saudi Arabia, it’s worth mentioning that, according to the forecast, the temperatures are expected to decline further in Tabuk. They might even be accompanied by active events that can increase the chill factor. Moreover, cold conditions are expected to persist across affected regions over the next few days.

Temperatures To Fall Further

It should be noted that several governors recorded the lowest temperatures in the kingdom on Sunday. Arar, Qurayyat, and Turaif registered 0°C, which marked the coldest readings nationwide. Moreover, temperatures in Rafha also fell to 3°C while Sakaka recorded 4°C. As a result, both of these areas were among the coldest locations in Saudi Arabia during the ongoing cold spell.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that residents, especially those in the northern region, have been advised to take precautions against the cold, especially during early morning and night hours.
