Dubai & Sharjah Announce New Year’s Holiday, Here’s When The Offices Resume

The countdown has already begun for the New Year as the world prepares to bring in 2026 with great pomp and show. And it seems that emirates across the UAE are also getting into the holiday mood, as Dubai and Sharjah have already announced public holidays for the new year. And here’s all you need to know about this.

Public Holiday In Sharjah

Starting with Sharjah, Sharjah Resources has already announced that the New Year’s holiday for 2026 will be on Thursday, January 1. As mentioned in a report of the Gulf News, this is for the employees of the government entities, bodies and institutions. However, it should be noted that the official working hours will begin on Monday, January 5th, except for employees who are working on a shift system.

Dubai Also Announces Holiday For Government Employees

Coming to Dubai, this emirate has also announced New Year’s Day as a holiday. Yes, this was revealed in another report by Gulf News. It mentioned how the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced a holiday. This holiday will be on January 1st, 2026. However, Friday, January 2nd, will be a remote workday for federal government employees. Additionally, those whose role requires otherwise are an exception.
