Although DXB experienced some of the busiest days in its history recently, the airport did face a few flight delays as well. Not only the Dubai International Airport, but even Sharjah International Airport saw the flights being disrupted on early Saturday morning. Several departures and arrivals were delayed by up to two hours, and here’s why!
Several Flights Delayed At DXB
It is believed that the delays at the airport were caused by dense early morning fog. These blanket parts of Dubai and the northern Emirates. Gulf News, in its report, mentions how, according to flight tracking data on the airport’s website, Emirates’s service to destinations like Brisbane, Colombo, Auckland, Dar es Salaam, and Male were among those which were affected. However, flydubai flights were also affected, especially those flying to Mombasa, Krabi, and other destinations. These delays ranged from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
23 Flights By Airlines Affected
The same report quoted the Dubai Airports, which is the operator of Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central, mentioning how the early morning weather conditions on the day led to the diversion of 21 inbound flights from the DXB and two from the DWC. With the airport teams closely working with the airlines, the authorities were working hard to ensure that the schedules were back in balance, so that passengers were not affected.

Delay Was Due To Foggy Conditions
Although weather conditions later returned to normal, the operation also returned to normal with the focus on minimising delays. Air Arabia flights were also among those which were affected. They were departing for cities like Kazan, Bishkek, Alexandria, Addis Ababa, and Cochin. This comes as the NCM had earlier issued a fog alert for Dubai, Sharjah, and other parts of the UAE, leading to reduced visibility in some areas.
