Here’s How Dubai RTA Plans To Reduce Traffic In Dubai Through A Fine Of Up To AED2,00,000

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority is constantly trying to ensure that roads are not only safer in Dubai, but that the traffic is also less. And now it has been recently revealed that they have a new plan to tackle traffic. Yes, for this purpose, they’ve launched an extensive inspection campaign. This campaign would identify improper practices followed by truck drivers, particularly those of random parking on the main road across the emirate. Here’s all about the Dubai RTA’s plans to reduce traffic in Dubai with hefty fines.

Dubai RTA To Reduce Traffic Through Fines?

As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, the campaign has been undertaken to enhance road safety for everybody. Not to mention, the aim is to improve the efficiency of the road infrastructure while also maintaining the urban landscape of the emirate. With the aim of regulating activities within the right-of-way and protecting the public facilities, the Dubai RTA will continue to carry out these campaigns.

Intensified Inspections Under The Campaign

As a part of the campaign, the authority has already begun implementing intensified inspections. They target random trucks that are parked on the main road and beneath bridges in the areas of the emirate. The report mentioned how the efforts are a part of the RTA’s broader initiative to reduce violations, address practices that restrict traffic flow and even end up being dangerous to users of the road.

Fine Of Up To AED2,00,000

With there already being dedicated rest areas for trucks, the aim is for them to have proper rest without hampering the traffic on the road. The truck rest areas already offer a range of services, including everything from prayer rooms and a diesel refuelling station to retail outlets. As it happens, the report mentions how the Dubai RTA has urged freight companies and truck drivers to comply with all the regulatory and operational requirements.

Penalties start at AED5,000 and can be doubled on repeated offences or in serious cases. They can even reach up to AED2,00,000; however, it depends on the nature of the violation.
