The Sultanate of Oman recently approved a new schedule of fees for citizenship, application and nationality-related requests. Yes, according to the official gazette of the Sultanate, the details revealed that there is a revised structure of peace, and we are here to tell you all about it.

Oman Introduces New Nationality & Citizenship Fees

As mentioned in the news, which quoted the Sultanate’s Official Gazette, the fee for submitting an application for Omani citizenship has been set at OMR600. This charge will apply to applications that are submitted by foreign women who are married to Omani nationals, along with widows or divorced spouses of Omani nationals and minor children of Omani women as well. Moreover, a fee of OMR200 will also be required for requests related to the withdrawal or relinquishment of Omani nationality.

New Fee Structure Has Come Into Effect

This new fee structure came into force on January 4th, 2026. Additionally, it is a part of the efforts of the settlement to standardise administrative procedures, which govern nationality services across the Sultanate. Moreover, the authorities have also confirmed that there is no change to the eligibility criteria or the legal requirements for citizenship or nationality matters. The decision applies exclusively to the application and the service fees.

Oman Recently Expanded Its Cultural Visa & Residency System

This development comes at a time when it was recently revealed that the Sultanate had also expanded its cultural visa and residency system. Yes, now, families and first-degree relatives of foreign artists, writers, and cultural entrepreneurs could live and work in the Sultanate, as mentioned in the Oman News. According to the decision, the updated system would add several visas and residency categories under the regulation that would govern the entry and stay of foreigners in the country. As it happens, this move built on the earlier 10-year cultural visa policy, which was endorsed in 2023.
