As revealed in a report by the Gulf News, passengers who have plans to travel to Kerala for the festival of Onam are truly in for a treat because they can now travel for as low as AED189! Yes, with several agencies and airlines launching special fares, these have been done to meet the festive demand.

For instance, Air Arabia, which is an airline based in the UAE, is offering a ‘sweet surprise’ for those travelling during Onam. Yes, the airline is letting people fly for just AED255 (one-way fare) from Abu Dhabi to Kozhikode.

Significance Of The 10-Day Cultural Event

For those who are wondering, Onam is the annual harvest festival in Kerala and is a 10-day cultural event. A time for family reunion, traditional feasts, like Onam Sadhya, it’s truly one of the memorable times for the community. As it happens, boat races and dances form big parts of the celebration and are famous around the world.

Packages By Travel Agencies

As it happens, travel companies like Smart Travel Group have also launched an offer for their 10th anniversary. However, the special fare is only available on September 4, which is the eve of Onam. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that this is the first of its kind initiative by a UAE travel agency, as revealed in a report by the Gulf News. This offer also extends to other cities, such as Kerala, wherein the one-way fare to Kochi is AED299 for Kannur, it is AED310.

There is also something in the store for those who are looking to celebrate the festival by vacationing. Packages are being offered for under AED1,000 and have been designed to offer an authentic Onam experience. Complete with events, featuring Onam Sadhya and cultural performances, these packages are for destinations like Sri Lanka and Bhutan.

So, with plenty of options for travellers, this is going to be a great way for them to explore the beauty of the cultural event.
