As revealed by the National Centre for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia, several warnings have been issued for moderate to heavy rainfall. As it happens, a Gulf News report also mentions how the NCM has said that it may also cause flash floods across several governorates. These are issued for some of them across the Makkah region, and here’s all you need to know about the development

NCM Predicts Moderate To Heavy Rainfall

As announced by the National Centre for Meteorology in Saudi Arabia, several warnings have been issued for moderate to heavy rainfall. As a result, it is predicted that it can also cause flash floods across the governorates of the Makkah region, which include Jeddah, Al Kamil, Adham, Rabigh, Khulais, and Bahrah.

This could be until Wednesday, and the weather map released on Saturday showed how the region is expected to be amongst the most affected. As it happens, it is also predicted that this rainfall could be capable of triggering flash floods, hail, and dust-raising downdraught winds. As a result, the civil defence has urged the public to exercise caution and to follow official safety instructions.

Several Towns & Villages Affected In Tabuk Region

The warning comes after recent thunderstorms of varying intensity hit the Haql governorate in the Tabuk region. As a result, several towns and villages were affected across the region. Additionally, Ulu Al Qusayr and Alqan also saw moderate to heavy rainfall, which was accompanied by hail, and resulted in flash floods in the valley and the low-lying areas.

Residents Cautioned To Be Careful

It should be noted that the moderate to heavy rainfall was also reported in Umluj governorate, which included the northern Al Harrah and Amq centres. Here, the skies remained overcast. However, there was no further rain expected. It is predicted that a wider impact across Saudi Arabia is expected. And so a safety advisory has been issued for the residents. Yes, they have been urged to stay updated about the weather bulletins.

Additionally, the report also mentioned how they’ve been asked to be alert through the NCM website, the Anwaa app, and the official social media channels.
