The Saudi capital, Riyadh, recently unveiled its plans to develop two expansive public parks. As revealed in a report of the Saudi Press Agency, the Riyadh region municipality on Wednesday, January 21st, confirmed its plans to develop two parks in the Eastern and the Southern region of the capital. Covering more than 3,10,000 m², the Riyadh region municipality has announced its plans to give a broader push towards increasing the green space across the city. As mentioned further in the report of the Gulf News, it mentions how the new development has been designed to transform the urban landscape of the city. Shifting away from the traditional park layout, this would be an integrated urban destination. So, basically, the parks would not just offer environmental sustainability, but also cater to recreation.
Scenic Valley Is Central To Design
The scenic valley is central to the design and will serve as a functional and visual anchor for the sites. As mentioned by the municipal officials, the park would provide high-quality public areas that would align with the quality of life goals for Saudi Vision 2030.

What Do The Highlights Include?
Spread across 3,17,200 m² footprint, the facilities are beyond the standard greenery. The sites would feature a golf course, dedicated jogging parks, and multipurpose sports fields. When families come to the park, they will get access to children’s play areas and water features. Not only this, but there will also be a theatre and designated event spaces. This suggests that the park would double as a cultural hub for the local community.
This would include a range of commercial amenities, and the park would also feature restaurants and cafes so that it remains active throughout the day. It’s worth noting that the latest initiative follows a series of large-scale environmental projects in the kingdom. With the design, focusing on environmental sensitivity, it’s truly going to be a sight to behold once it opens. However, it is worth noting that the opening date has not been given yet.
