Sitting On The Floor Or Sleeping During Your Ride On Dubai Metro? You Might Have To Pay A Fine!

Dubai Metro is undoubtedly the lifeline of the city. With the public transport, making it easier for people to travel from one part of the city to another, one has to take the time to actually make sure, they are not blocking movements or sitting in non-passenger areas. After all, if they are found committing any of these offences, they may face harsh penalties. As a result, the Dubai RTA has urged everyone to travel courteously and to ensure that the metro is running smoothly.

A Kind Of Obstruction Is Strictly Prohibited By The Dubai Metro

As reported by the Gulf News recently, Dubai Metro users who are found sitting on the floor or sleeping while taking a ride on the Dubai Metro, thereby blocking movements, will be subject to penalties. These kinds of obstruction are strictly prohibited and can result in fines that start from no less than AED100. So, passengers are advised to ensure they maintain a courteous and responsible behaviour while using public transport. This will ensure a smooth travel experience, especially during peak hours.

This reminder by the Dubai RTA comes when a user had recently complained about people sitting in the intersection that connects to the compartments of the metro. As a result, this tends to block movement during the peak hours. So, Dubai RTA has once again reminded people that they must maintain decorum while travelling.

What Are The Key Guidelines

In case you need your memory refreshed about the key guidelines, these include:

  • Respecting personal space
  • Moving down the cabins
  • Allowing others to exit before boarding
  • Avoid sitting in non-passenger areas

If a person is found not complying with these rules, they will become liable to pay fines by the Dubai RTA. After all, it is basic courtesy to not sit on the floor, respecting personal space, and even moving down the cabins.
