After the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, many passengers across the UAE have been stranded as flights have been cancelled or rescheduled. This comes at a time when there is airspace closure in the UAE for the safety of its people. As a result, the General Civil Aviation Authority has announced the activation of the operational plan. The aim is to contain the repercussions that arise from the developments currently taking place in the region.

UAE Activates Aviation Action Plan

With the aim of managing passenger traffic, the aviation sector in the UAE has organised the traffic in a flexible and organised manner. Not to mention, the Gulf News mentions how it is mitigating the impact of successive amendments to the flight schedules. So, operational disruptions have been limited, and there are smooth procedures happening within the airport terminals across the country. The airports and carriers are working in an integrated manner to ensure the operational traffic is managed according to the approved plan.

Re-routing Of Several Flights

The first part of this plan is re-routing. This measure has been implemented for certain flights between the country’s airports. Not to mention, there is an acceleration of rescheduling processes along with the strengthening of on-ground coordination. Moreover, the state is also bearing all the hosting and accommodation costs for passengers who are affected to ensure there is continued provision of essential services. In fact, in the last few hours, 20,200 passengers (approx) have been affected and have been handled by the airports and national carriers of the country.

Free Temporary Accommodation & Food For Stranded Passengers

This, however, does not just end there. Temporary accommodations are being provided along with free meals and refreshments. This is not just mentioned in the Gulf News report, but is evident from many videos that are being uploaded on social media by the stranded passengers. Besides this, re-booking procedures are also in line with the approved action plan.

Passengers have also been transported to the destinations within the country, along with temporary accommodations being given to those in transit. Moreover, authorities are also coordinating with airports and airlines so that flight status can be monitored and there are rescheduled services.

Finally, it is important that passengers follow only official updates. They must follow the updates that are coming through the approved channels. And they must contact the respective airlines directly for any developments that may arise related to their flights.
