The One-Stop Travel System has been in the talks for quite some time. As revealed in a report of the Gulf News, the Gulf Cooperation Council has finally kicked off the pilot phase of the system. Yes, the pilot phase of the one-stop travel system has begun between the UAE and Bahrain. And here’s all you need to know about it!
GCC Kicks Off Pilot Phase Of One-Stop Travel
Finally, the GCC has kicked off the pilot phase of the One-Stop Travel System. This has kicked off between the UAE and Bahrain, and the initiative allows GCC citizens to move between member states without having to repeat the entry procedure. This comes at a time when the system has been talked about for quite some time. Once this is completely launched after a successful trial, travelling within the Gulf will become quite smooth, making it more connected.
How Would It Be Beneficial?
But what does the system do? Well, under the one-stop model, citizens of the GCC member states, which include Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman, will be able to complete passport control and security screening at a single checkpoint before their departure.
This clearance will be recognised at arrival, which would remove the need for duplicate checks and even reduce the wait times. For instance, someone who is travelling from Bahrain to Dubai will only need to go through the immigration and security procedures and barring. Once they arrive in the UAE, they can do so without any additional screening. The aim of the system is to streamline travel and to improve passenger flow.

The Exemption To Be Gradually Extended To Other Member States
However, it’s worth noting that the officials have agreed in the report that this exemption will then be gradually extended to all GCC states. As a result, it would also streamline regional travel for citizens across the Gulf. So, once this system is completely rolled out, it’s bound to make travelling a lot more hassle-free and easier for the citizens of the Gulf.
It seems the future of travel in the Gulf is here, and it’s here to make things easier for the people.
