Yes, with the aim of reducing the spread of sweet, fizzy drinks and other types of unhealthy snacks, this is also being done as it’s increasingly affecting the behaviour and academic performance. UAE School Bans Unhealthy Snacks
In a bid to promote healthy eating, government schools across the UAE have tightened their rules for the types of food that students can bring to school. This includes sugar, sweet, and artificially coloured snacks, flavoured crisps, and fizzy drinks, which are no longer allowed on the school premises. As mentioned in a report, these products have been linked to hyperactivity in the classroom, disruption and poor concentration. So, it not only harms the learning environment, but also the wider school environment.
Not Just A Minor Issue
A lot of these products are often known for carrying warning labels about possible effects on the children, activity levels and attention. So, the schools have stressed that unhealthy snacks are not just a minor issue. However, it is an issue that affects the students’ daily behaviour, focus, and their ability to engage in lessons. Moreover, small daily choices, such as lunch boxes and what it contains, have a big impact on the emotional stability, academic readiness, and behaviour of the students.

So, administrators in their notice have urged parents to take an active role by checking what’s going in the school bags. They must also ensure that the meals sent to the schools are balanced and nutritious. Moreover, they have also asked to talk to their children about not buying or selling banned food items during the school day. Addressing parental corporation is important for maintaining a healthy culture. Especially one that supports concentration, learning and long-term success.
And this is honestly not a bad step! After all, healthy eating is paramount, and it just benefits the children in the long run as it supports their health.
