Recently, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Minister of Defence, Deputy Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, was seen riding in an autonomous car. Yes, in a video shared on Instagram from his official account, he shared footage of himself taking a ride in a self-driving car on the roads of Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan In Self-Driving Car
The video was posted on Instagram, in which Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum could be seen seated inside the self-driving vehicle. This appears to be a test drive, and with no hands on the controls, he captured the video with his hands.
Although it was a short video, it quickly drew wide attention online. As seen in the video, Mattar Al Tayer, who is the Director General and Chairman of the Roads and Transport Authority, could also be seen sitting inside the car during the test drive. This highlights the government’s involvement in the project.

Dubai Has Begun Rolling Out Driverless Taxis
According to a report, this step is a part of Dubai’s effort to shape urban mobility. The plan is to achieve this through a smart and sustainable transport solution. With autonomous transport already becoming a part of everyday life, Dubai has begun rolling out self-driving taxis.
Yes, it started with a fleet of 100 vehicles, and the plan is to expand the number to more than 1,000 in the future. Besides autonomous vehicles, the city is also implementing artificial intelligence for managing traffic and introducing clean energy buses. The test drive, as shared by the Crown Prince of Dubai, shows the emirate’s ambition of being at the forefront of future transport.
