flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the Middle East and globally, has made a landmark announcement. It has proudly declared its membership in the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). This achievement signifies a milestone as flynas becomes the first Saudi airline to align itself with this specialized United Nations agency. In a pioneering move, flynas joins the UNWTO as an affiliate member. It’s a distinguished category reserved for organizations, companies, and institutions actively contributing to the growth of the tourism sector while sharing the UNWTO’s overarching vision and mission. UNWTO members collaborate to advance sustainable global tourism in line with the Global Code of Ethics for Tourism and United Nations principles. Riyadh welcomed the UNWTO’s Regional Office for the Middle East in 2021, and flynas’ membership precedes Saudi Arabia hosting the 26th General Assembly session in 2025, a historic first for the kingdom.
Additionally, the UNWTO Executive Council, during its 120th meeting in Samarkand, approved Saudi Arabia’s re-election as president for 2024. Bander Almohanna, flynas’ CEO and managing director, noted that the airline’s membership aligns with its sustainability plan, emphasizing initiatives with positive impacts on the environment, society, and the economy.
Recently, flynas expanded its fleet with four new A320 neo aircraft, bringing the total to 43, constituting 70% of its fleet. In the last two years, the airline achieved a 100% growth in fleet size, now boasting 60 aircraft, including four A330 widebody variants.
