MP: Aviation Min Jyotiraditya Scindia Announces 2 New Airports In Guna & Shivpuri; Allocates ₹45 Crore Each

In a bid to improve air connectivity, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has announced two new airports in Guna and Shivpuri cities in Madhya Pradesh. With a telos to enhance regional air connectivity, the government will allocate ₹45 crore each for the two airports. Read on to learn more about these new aviation developments in India.
Madhya Pradesh To Get New Airports In Guna & Shivpuri Cities

In order to make air travel more accessible and enhance regional connectivity for residents of Shivpuri and Guna cities in Madhya Pradesh, two new airports will come up in the two cities. Nestled in Madhya Pradesh, Guna Airport has been earmarked for development under UDAN 5.2. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has allocated a budget of ₹45 crore for this project. The AAI has committed to providing Aeronautical Information Services (AIS), Communications and Navigation Surveillance (CNS) for the same. Taking the role of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services provider, AAI will facilitate the smooth operations of Guna Airport.
The government has identified Shivpuri Airport under UDAN 5.2. One open for operations, this airport will accommodate nine-seater aircraft. The new startup airline, Spirit Air has already offered bids for connectivity from Shivpuri to Bhopal. Apart from being the O&M service provider for Guna Airport, AAI will also take on the same role for Shivpuri Airport in Madhya Pradesh. The Ministry of Covil Aviation has allocated ₹45 crore to develop the Shivpuri airport.
Bid To Improve Regional Connectivity, Trade, Tourism & Commerce
The development of the two airports will improve regional connectivity in Madhya Pradesh. Moreover, it will directly benefit the residents of Bhopal, Shivpuri, Guna and other neighbouring regions. Apart from making air travel more accessible, this initiative is poised to improve tourism, trade and commerce. In turn, it will bolster economic activity in the regions.
According to a report by The Week, Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that the construction of the twin airports in Guna and Shivpuri was approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government’s regional connectivity scheme, Udan. He recalled his late father and former Civil Aviation Minister Madhavrao Scindia commenced Vayudoot services to Bhopal and Delhi from Guna.
