Mumbai Airport’s T2 Terminal Gets Mitti Café, Run By 23 Differently-Abled Employees

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), also referred to as Mumbai Airport, is renowned for its unflinching dedication to fostering an inclusive ecosystem. It has introduced Mitti Café, its newest product, a place that values diversity and gives differently-abled people a voice. The Café will be run by 23 differently-abled employees and is located in Terminal 2’s arrival area of the Mumbai International Airport.

23 differently-abled employees who underwent three months of specialized training will manage the Mitti Café at Mumbai Airport (CSMIA). The workforce includes people with a variety of physical, intellectual, and psychological impairments, such as paralysis, autism, Down syndrome, and Asperger’s.

Customers can communicate with servers using small placards, a unique menu card printed in braille, sign language menus, and placards with basic directions.

In addition to hot and cold beverages, the recently opened Mitti Café at CSMIA will offer travellers delicacies like sandwiches, pasta, and samosas. The 38th shop of Mitti Café in India is now open at CSMIA.

By working together, CSMIA and Mitti Café hope to give these outstanding people a stage on which they can bravely display their skills and abilities.

In the ever-expanding variety of F&B options offered by CSMIA, Mitti Café is a relatively new entry. It places a strong emphasis on the needs of the passenger while also making a positive social impact. The impact takes place through its pioneering initiatives to empower differently-abled people. 

Director of Mitti Café, Alina Alam, expressed her company’s excitement for the opening of their newest location at Mumbai Airport. This project not only offers differently-abled people employment possibilities, but it also highlights the enormous potential and skills of this exceptional population. They support breaking barriers and promoting an inclusive society.

A CSMIA spokesperson appreciated this collaboration. They also called it an honour as they embark on an extraordinary journey with this café.
